Really, a Walk-a-Thon?

In Las Vegas I came to despise this fundraiser where the students would run "laps" (which were really short). Each student would have to find a "donor" to donate money for each lap they ran. Meanwhile, at school, they are bribing the students to get pledges by telling them they will receive all these fun prizes. One of the worst fundraisers ever. I thought moving to Macau would make it so the boys didn't have to participate in these "fun runs". I was wrong. They came home with these papers asking for pledges. Of course I went to support them while they were running. The "run" in Macau is better thought because they didn't dangle prizes in the students faces and the laps were actual laps. They ran the track of the university by where their school is located. The atmosphere was fun and easy going, not any high pressure stuff like the fundraiser in Las Vegas. Here are some pictures documenting the day.

Kyle's grade came out first. Here he is sitting and waiting to start.

Running. He does not like to run. After each lap he asked if he could be done.

You can see the building where we live in the background.

Cam was their cheerleader for the day.

Waiting again to go back to class.

Connor's grade was next. His class walked out with these cute hats on. I think his was ruined though by the time he started running.

A great action shot. He really liked to run. However after his third lap around the university track he was really tired and done. He was very excited to be running though.

Connor telling me he is tired and wanting to know if he can stop.

With his cute and super patient teacher, Ms. Lai.

While waiting for Kade to come out Cam kept walking through the door and thinking it was fun to look out the window. While he was doing this a guy in a tiger outfit came and started talking to him. After talking to him I found out he is the president of the school and he got dressed up to help motivate the students. He has been running the school since it opened up in Macau 9 years ago. His wife is also the speech therapist and choir teacher.

Cam almost got trampled on by the bigger students. Since Cam was closer to the principal he picked him up and held him while he said hi to everyone coming in.

Kade running. He liked to run too, especially with his friends.

While Kade was running Cam was playing with his good friend Will. I couldn't get a picture of them both looking up. One or the other would always look down or up. They are so funny together though. They will walk up to each and give each other a hug or something. So fun!!

Kade with his really good friend Josh and Cougar (who has moved to Taiwan).

All of the big kids love Cam. They were so nice to let him run a lap with them, especially since in the middle of the lap Cam started running the wrong way.

I am grateful this experience was a lot better than the one in Las Vegas. I am actually looking forward to this next year!! Each of the boys seemed to have a good time and was happy to be there.
