Guia Fortress Field Trip-Kade

In 4th grade all of the students learn about the history of Macau. Part of learning about the history is having the opportunity to visit many of the places/sites they learn about. Fortunately parents were able to go on the field trips with the students. Kade has an amazing teacher this year! Because most of the field trips were in the afternoon he allowed Cam to also tag along. This is really the best way to visit the historic sites in Macau. I never get lost when I am with people who know where they are actually going. For the first field trip we went on we went to the Guia Fortress and Lighthouse. Kade is definitely growing up! They thought it was more "cool" that Cam was there then me. He hung around his friends mostly and talked to me just a little. Which is fine! It gave Cam and I more time to explore on our own.

Walking up to the fortress and lighthouse. There are many pictures of what the surrounding area of Macau looks like. Note: this is on the Macau island, not the Taipa island where we live.

Looking at an underground shelter/passageway.

All of the older kids were so good with Cam. They helped make sure he was safe and kept up with the class.

Going in one of the underground shelters.

On our way up to the lighthouse.

 Writing observations in their notebooks.

There is a small, but quiet and beautiful church by the lighthouse. Everyone tried really hard to be quiet and respectful.

Mr. Lovestone asked everyone to line up. He was first in line. ;)

This was a fun field trip. I am sure Kade learned a lot about the Guia Fortress and Lighthouse. We look forward to the next historical field trip at the Protestant Cemetary and Casa Gardens.
